@captainclayman No need for glue, the clips simply snap back into place.

@captainclayman Putting it back is easier than the take apart. Just reverse the instructions.

how hard is it to put together? does the backplate just snap back on to the ipod or do you need some kind of special glue or something.

Be careful with the clips as you take it apart.
The screen needs to be removed from the front face protector.
there is a piece of black tape over the exposed electronic components. If these remain uncovered with the new screen replacement, they could (and do) couple to the battery holder, preventing the iPod from turning on.
Remove the tape and put it on the replacement screen.
The headphone jack has a flange that needs to be placed under the circuit board or it will not fit properly.

@rclark23 The generation of iPod used in the video does, in fact, have a metal back.

    April 27, 2011 | 10:28 pm

Banana method does not work, it doesn’t do anything. Toothpaste does, but it can make screens cloudy. But I’ve used brasso. It works really good. I have that silver polish in that brand, it doesn’t seem to remove my scratches. You had more than me though, I think I will get a bigger cloth.

everyone says the backs are metal,, oh contrair,, they are chrome PLASTIC,,
I would be mostly worried of polishing off the logo and or serial # information.
Might want to tell people to write down and put serial # in a safe place prior to doing this,,,
